It's official- We're moving to Savannah!

We always thought that we'd move back to Florida. It has been our plan to move back since leaving the sunshine state almost 9 years ago. But it seems now that we're moving to Georgia instead. After a ton of job hunting and a few selective interviews, I found a really great job.  The only downside is that it's not in Florida. It is however in Savannah, a beautiful historic city, with a lot of culture and a beautiful beach.
The job is at a multi-specialty group called SouthCoast Medical Group. Though my position is in one of their subsidiaries- Savannah Infectious Disease. It is a little practice within the bigger multi-specialty group. There are 2 ID physicians there now that I will join. They are busy, too busy for 2 people. So I will come in and lighten the load a bit and hopefully grow the business a little bit too. I will be spending most of my time doing hospital consults (seeing patients in the hospital and giving advise about their antibiotics or infection management). I'll have clinic hours in our office 2 half days per week. Sounds pretty boring so far but there are some perks too. They just started an antibiotic stewardship program which the practice is part of and there are medical residents and medical students that rotate with us. So I get to teach residents/students and get to help guide antibiotic use within the hospitals.

The next few months will be be busy. I finish fellowship at end of June. In the time between now and then we have to sell our house (hopefully!) in Winston Salem and buy one in Savannah. I also have to get a Georgia medical license, get credentialed at the hospitals there and get signed up with all the insurance companies that SouthCoast accepts.  Step one is to get our little house ready for sale. We've already started. The is a POD outside of our house- we are decluttering. We are planning a garage sale for a couple weeks from now. I have replaced all the vinyl tile in the bathrooms, we are repainting the living room and kitchen and toughing up the rest of the house. Lots to do! Let the list making begin!

There is a lot to do but also a lot to look forward to.  I finally get to practice independently and I'm going to work with some really great people. House hunting will be fun! We'll be able to afford a bigger house (so come visit!).  We're going to settle into a really neat community.

Ok, I have rambled enough. Here's a few pictures of Lily. :)

Christmas!

We had a wonderful quiet Christmas. Lily got a ton of new toys! We played and played and played with them. We ate bunches of turkey- anyone want some leftovers? I know it's been a while since I posted but all the same I'll keep this one short and sweet. And full of pictures!!!

And here are some pictures from Grandpa and Aunt Kelly's visit.

Mommy went to Boston

October was a busy month. It was full of lots of working and a 5 day trip to Boston for Infectious Diseases Society of America's annual meeting. The meeting consists of a bunch of lectures and research presentations. It was my 1st time away from Lily. I missed her terribly. Grammy Linda and Kenny came to visit and help Brian while I was away. Lily had a ball with her visitors.

I am still looking at jobs. I have my first interview in 2 weeks and I have been invited for another but I am waiting to schedule it. I am hoping to decide on a job by New Years. There is a lot to do to. I have to get a license in a new state, get credentialed at a new hospital or hospitals, sell our house and move. I guess I am getting a little ahead of myself- I have 8 months left of fellowship. But alot of these things take time.

Little Lily changes just about everyday. She is now toddling around the house at full tilt. Sometimes she appears to be running. She has 3 out of 4 of her 12 month molars. The kid seems to be constantly teething. I am hoping this ends soon.  She is imitating us more, which is really quite funny. She continues to be the absolute best part of my days.
Here is a video of her playing indian tonight and a bunch of pictures including some with Grammy and Kenny.

It's been a while

Since our last post Lily has gone mobile. She walks pretty well, though she is still uncertain a lot of the time. She seems to get bigger and faster by the day. We went through more teething with nothing but the point of a canine tooth to show for it. We discovered that she really likes to go for walks in the stroller. She has always loved being outside and so I guess the stroller rides combine relaxing motion and being outside. Even when she's super fussy the stroller seems to calm her down.

I've started more actively looking for a job. I hope to meet a couple potential employers at IDSA (national infectious disease conference) at the end of the month. I'll keep you all posted about my progress but keep your fingers crossed for me.  That's about all that's new around here. This video was just us hanging out before bed tonight. And a few pictures from Lily's 1st birthday photo shoot.
