New York City Weekend

Just got home from NYC. Had a great weekend. We did a lot in a short period of time. We saw 4 braodway hows in 3 days, took a harbor cruise, walked around Riverside park and did a little shopping. We ate brunch yesterday in the cafe where part of You've Got Mail was filmed- Cafe Lalo. The broadway shows we saw were all good and all very different. I think Lion King was my favorite. The costumes and actors were amazing. Wicked was also amazing- 3 hours in the theater just flew by. Next to Normal was thought provoking and original. American Idiot was entertaining but loud and mostly about the music- not so much story. Broadway is amazing- well worth the trip. Also a great time with Theresa's cousins- they were awesome hosts.

Here are a few NYC pictures and a belly picture from week 25.

24 week Ultrasound

We got to see Lily again today. At our last ultrasound she was a little bit uncooperative with the views of her heart. The sonographer and the doctor thought that everything was fine but they needed to look again. So today we went back for some repeat views of her heart. Good news for all of you have bought a bunch of pink (like us)- she's still a girl. :) They estimated her weight at 1 lb 11 ounces. That's right on target for her "age." Her heart looked fine. We got to see all 4 chambers and even the tiny little valves. It was fun to get to see Lily again. This will be the last ultrasound unless there is a problem. Here are two of the images from today's ultrasound.

Otherwise everything in NC is going well. I am feeling good. I find that I get tired more easily than before I was pregnant but have no complaints. The second trimester is definitely easier than the 1st. So I am going to enjoy it while it lasts- before I get big and uncomfortable. I am headed to New York City this weekend with Theresa. It's a girls weekend away. We are staying with Theresa's cousins and going to see some broadway shows. I am pretty excited about it. I leave tomorrow and return Monday. Then next week my Mom is coming to visit. It's going to be a busy week or two, but it's going to be fun. I won't be home this weekend to post the bi-weekly belly picture. But trust me the belly keeps growing! Last week I knocked over a pitcher of water and ice in a patient's room with my belly. I guess I lack belly awareness. It's not usually this big! I will try to post a NYC belly picture when I return Monday.
I also want to post pictures of the nursery. It's coming along nicely but first we need to clean it up a bit. My friend gave us some baby stuff- stroller, car seat, swing etc. And it's everywhere in there. :)

Lots of Stuff Going On

There is a lot going on around here. Xander is progressing slowly but is still not walking very well. He needs help going out and has to be watched all the time. He is out off puppy jail more of the time and is making progress. The vet thinks that he will definitely walk again but it may take him more time because his back injury was chronic. I have also been trying to study for boards- fun fun fun. It's 13 weeks away and there is SO much to review/re-learn. I am on the geriatrics ward for the next 2 weeks so I am working a bit more. In addition to this Theresa and I are going for a girl's weekend in NYC in 2 weeks. It's going to be an awesome trip. We are staying with her cousin and going to see some Broadway shows. One of the perks of her job is being able to get free tickets- so we are going to see Wicked, Lion King and American Idiot while we are there. The weekend after that my Mom is coming to visit. That will be fun. Hopefully we can relax a little and maybe work on the nursery a little. :)

I finished my last call of residency last night. It was actually a pretty light call. I got a few hours of sleep. I am excited to be done. I won't have to be in the hospital overnight ever again if I don't choose to moonlight. Awesome! I came home early this morning to flowers and pink lemonade cupcakes from Brian. It was such a sweet surprise. I also had a package from Kelly which was the cutest little set of clothes for the baby. Then this afternoon Theresa came over to give us back a movie she borrowed. Only she really came to surprise me with a Mother's Day gift. It was a set of really cute onesies, monkey pajamas and the cutest pink monkey thank you cards. Very sweet! I keep saying you can't celebrate Mother's Day until baby is external. But apparently I have been proven wrong today. It was a really great day.

We continue to try to decide on a baby name. Thank you to everyone that voted on my baby name poll last week. The winner was Lily Grace. It is a name that I like quite a bit. It seems that we are pretty set of Lily as her first name but the middle name is not so concrete. We are certainly leaning toward Lily Grace. I think Lily Grace Barbour is pretty. We ran errands today- had to go to Babies-R-Us to get birthday present for our friend's little girl. She turns one next weekend. I found a sippy cup with Lily on it. It came home with us. :)

Over the past few weeks my stomach has grown. My OB says that I have "popped out of my pelvis." I am pretty sure that I think my belly is bigger than it actually is. :) I am feeling very well. I get tired easily but have no other complaints. Here is the latest belly picture- 23 weeks pregnant.
