It has been a few weeks since I have updated the blog. Sorry about that. There is quite a bit going on. I have been an official Infectious Diseases (ID) for a week. I have been on the busy consult service and working more than I have in months. I am averaging 10-11 hour days- except yesterday which was more than 12. As you would expect I am tired by the end of the day. Plus at night I take home/pager call for hospital consults, clinic issues and PAL (physician access line- hospital outreach line for other physicians) calls. It's a funny thing being a new fellow- people expect you to know about your specialty. Like somehow magically on July 1st when you become a fellow you are gifted with ID knowledge. Too bad it doesn't work that way. The attendings are very good. They understand that I am just a glorified internist at this point. The people who call consults and call with questions however are miffed when you don't know the answer. This mostly happens with PAL calls. It hasn't been too bad. It's just an interesting experience going from being good at your job to being uncertain all the time. It's a little like going back to internship. I have one more week of consults and I don't have night call during it. Then I am at the VA for 2 weeks- that will be easier.
Lily is accepting these changes well. I had a check-up Tuesday and she is doing fine. She's getting bigger and so am I. She is active as ever and like most fetuses she is especially active at night- hopefully not a sign of what is to come once she is born. Now that she is bigger occasionally her kicks are uncomfortable. :) They are definitely no longer those cute little nudges from inside.
I got my car back from body shop on Thursday. It looks like new. It's driving fine and all the repairs are guaranteed for as long as I own the vehicle. I am glad to have my car back.
The nursery is at a bit of a standstill. The clothes are all washed and put away, crib and changing table are ready. But the bookcase is still in the room- we plan to put it in the attic to make more room. And there are still some things in there that I haven't figured out where to put... Maybe next weekend I can make some progress. On the bright side the gifts from the shower look great in there. We are very blessed to have such generous family and friends. Below are some nursery in progress pictures.

Love all the monkeys on the crib. The Lily sign makes the nursery. I"m glad everything is going good with lily getting bigger and her kicks getting stronger. I'm sorry you have to work so hard, and that your so tired. I hope it gets easier. The pictures are really nice to see of the nursery and it's progress. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI just have to say I love those Monkeys and I love the name again! :) Hope things get smoother for you.
