I am begining to really like my new job. I am figuring out what I can handle on my own and what to ask the attendings about (before I just asked about everything). And I really like the people that I work with. I guess it's kind of a shame to just be getting comfortable and leave for 8 weeks of maternity leave but it will be worth it. I can't wait to have my little Lily here.
Lily is getting bigger by the day. And so is my stomach. It seems like everybody has something to say about my stomach too. It's not just the people I know at work but random people. Yesterday I was presenting a patient to my attending. I was in the middle of telling him what I wanted to recommend and this nurse interupted us to ask when I was due and what sex the baby was and then wanted to have a conversation about c-sections. I was a little surprised at first. I kept thinking... umm, hey I'm working here. But she just kept talking despite my one word answers and continued conversation with my attending. Another nurse this week was insisting that Lily could be breech because she is still so high in my abdomen. She told me at least 3 times that I needed an ultrasound. Mostly I just get comments about how big she is going to be or that I am going to go into labor early or late. Saturday I just wanted a sign to wear on my belly- yes I know it is big and no I don't want your oppinion about it. I was tired on Saturday.
BTW- Brian is on turkey timer watch. That is what he has been calling my belly button- the turkey timer. So far I am still an inny- he says Lily will be done when the belly button pops out. I'm not sure it's going to happen. I think my belly button is just going to disappear. It's almost non-existant now.
I thought it might be fun to see a kind of then and now set of pictures. I found a picture from Kelly's visit and I put on the same clothes again. :) The funny thing is that in the 1st picture I thought I had a baby bump. But I guess you can't call it a bump now- more like a mountain. Anyway I thought this might be fun.

19 weeks pregnant
38 weeks pregnant
A bump no more- now a mountain
Thanks for posting the before and after pics, You looks great!!
ReplyDeleteGlad that you next weeks will be easier.
I love the pics! You look great!
ReplyDeleteI'm pulling for her to come on Saturday (my guess for the baby pool). Do me a favor and take a nice long walk Friday night.
Has your doctor told you how big he/she thinks Lily is now? At my last couple visits, my doctor would push around on my belly and tell me how much Luke weighed at that time. The doc said he is accurate within a couple ounces. It's crazy how they can do that. Fletch and I were going to test him by asking him to do it while I was in labor and then compare it to the actual birth weight, but in all the commotion we forgot.
You look great and do not look that big to me! Nisee wasn't breach but I got comments like that b/c she was so high as well. Saturday Sept 3rd, thats the day ... it was my guess! To be honest though I resigned myself that Nisee was never coming but she ended up coming the Day before her revised due date. But that was just my impatience I think.
ReplyDeleteI am going to give you the best advice I got when I was pregnant and close to delivery. Don't listen to anyone! Everyone is different and every pregnancy is different and anything can happen so no matter how similar your situation is, it's still different. I had so many people telling me about theirs and what worked best for them and all this and in the end none of it mattered because we couldn't keep Nisee's heart rate up when I was contracting.
I am super excited for you and Brian! I just know you are going to be awesome parents!!! And I can't wait to meet Lily!
I think you and Lily look wonderful! The comparison is awesome, to see the difference. It's amazing to see how your stomach grew because of her. You and Brian will do great, it's hard now because of the waiting game. She will be here before you know it. I look forward to meeting Lily, my new granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteI am so amazed by your energy. Those are some long hours you've been putting in... it would exhaust a non-pregnant person. Love the pictures of Lily's growth. You look great! Now all we can do is wait for Lily to make her appearance. (Hopefully, it'll be sooner than later). In the meantime, know that you are constantly in our thoughts!
